The all-new 50 Eastbay is the company’s latest addition to its “Down East” series of luxury performance motoryachts. Twenty years later the launch of the first Eastbay, the free-spirited 38EX, the 50 Eastbay represents a major milestone in the evolution of this renowned series.
The assertive, fluid lines of the 50 Eastbay and its dynamic new profile represent an exciting evolution in style for the entire series. With pod drive propulsion, joystick handling, inspired layout options and many more enhancements, the 50 Eastbay holds a long list of innovations and advancements beneath her stunning new look. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the proven Hunt Associates hull design that has earned the Eastbay Series superior marks – and, of course, the acclaimed quality and craftsmanship in every GRAND BANKS vessel. With an estimated top speed of 35 knots and an optional flybridge version, the 50 Eastbay is everything you’ve come to expect from Grand Banks and so very much more.
The new 50 Eastbay is available in two versions: Saloon Express and Flybridge. For the owner who prefers to have the open-air flexibility of a flybridge, the 50 Eastbay FB boasts the option of twin captains chairs with great panoramic visibility, helm station w/IPS controls, a beautiful L-shaped dinette, handmade teak table and storage lockers.
Moreover, the owner has also the possibility to choose between different layout options to suit his needs. The standard arrangement features two staterooms and a mezzanine or half-down galley – open to light and air from above and within easy reach of the salon, while at the same time discreetly separate from the main living area. The optional arrangement offers two or three cabins layout with the galley positioned aft to starboard on the main deck – a delightfully practical solution with easy service through to the cockpit for outdoor dining and entertainment.
FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME: VOLVO PENTA IPS
The 50 Eastbay’s arresting new look is complemented by a new pod drive propulsion system, Volvo Penta IPS, that offers improved handling, precision joystick control, better fuel economy and a host of other benefits to owners. The secret is in the steerable pods, pointing the entire thrust in the desired direction. They react immediately and precisely to driver commands, the turning radius is tight and tracking is absolutely straight. Around the dock or at slow speeds, a joystick lets you steer the boat in any direction, even sideways, or spin around on the spot. Sophisticated software transforms the driver’s joystick movements into steering angles, gear shifts and throttle positions.
