SCHEHERAZADE wins at Hodgdon Shipyard Cup X

SCHEHERAZADE skillfully outmaneuvered the fleet to take first place honors and winner overall at Shipyard Cup X.

True to the spirit of the event, the “winner overall trophy” was an engraved bucket and large bottle of Dom Pérignon. The bucket was filled with champagne and passed around to the winning crew. SCHEHERAZADE’s owner drew great cheers from the crowd as he took his turn.

In Sunday’s event, SCHEHERAZADE was followed by RAPTURE and WHISPER in the daily results, in which the boats and the race committee were able to take advantage of breaks in the fog to complete day 2’s racing. Due to an error in calculating starting times for the pursuit start of Saturday’s race, the results were not used to calculate the overall winner of the Shipyard Cup.

The final order of finishing for Sunday’s race and the overall results was: SCHEHERAZADE (154′), RAPTURE (100′), WHISPER (67′). VIRAGO (99′), TENACIOUS (115′), SUMURUN (94′) and WHEN AND IF (64′).

SUMURUN was the recipient of the annual Clew Award for managing to board their charter guests underway 2 minutes before their starting time and still crossed the line 1.5 seconds after the gun.

In keeping with the fun spirit of the event, race organizers also awarded some other prizes:

The FULL MOON AWARD to BOO TOO for aiming a moon-like object at the event photographer Billy Black.

The BEST DUCK BOAT IN BOOTHBAY AWARD to TENACIOUS for her owners sounding duck calls as they left the harbor.

The BEST START “POSSIBLY” UNDER POWER AWARD to the 1939 Schooner WHEN AND IF.

The WINGIN’ IT AWARD to RAPTURE for their “wing and wing” downwind run on day 1.

The BEST MAINE UNIFORM AWARD to the Captain of VIRAGO for sailing in a terrific authentic Maine flannel shirt.

The BEST SMOKE AND MIRRORS AWARD to SCHEHERAZADE for their “fake jibe”, which smoked their nearest competitor.

The BEST SPIRIT OF THE REGATTA award to the SUMURUN for starting day 2 in Flintstones’ costumes.

The WHERE’S TITO AWARD, in honor of Shipyard Cup sponsor, Tito’s Handmade American Vodka, for the person who shall remain nameless that “borrowed” the full size poster of Tito himself.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the event ended on an upbeat note with many racers looking forward to the 2013 event.

Shipyard Cup XI is scheduled to be held 9 – 13 August 2013

Benetti Delfino 93 debuts in USA!

The new Benetti Class Range Delfino 93’ – m/y Ocean Drive (BD03) – splash into the Hamptons waters for a VIP Premiere

The first series of the Delfino model – entirely of steel – was built in 1969, was 18 metres long and first appeared at the Genoa Boat Show.

Today, 40 years later, Benetti presents a new Delfino which encompasses Benetti’s heritage and experience, consisting of a strong relationship between history and innovation, craftsmanship tradition and new technologies.

The new Delfino is 28.5 metres long and features design solutions, technical equipment and spacious and comfortable areas, typically found on bigger (mega)yachts with larger dimension.

This is also possible due to its 7.03 metre beam which also provides great comfort below deck, where there are two large VIP cabins and two guest cabins.

The presence of the bulb and the overall stability of the hull make it one of the most comfortable yacht on the market. Both features combined with the new stabilizing system – which runs with electrical actuators – guarantee sea-keeping performance, both at sea and at anchor, besides a high level of comfort and quality of life on board. Sea-tests achieved outstanding results in terms of navigation efficiency, manoeuvrability and stability. The utmost attention to quality is also reflected by significant noise and vibrations reduction. Technology on board is completed by Full BEST system (Benetti Exclusive Sea Technology) which provide a complete integration and convergence of infotainment and domotics (air-conditioning, lighting, curtains position, navigation maps, etc).

The external lines designed by Stefano Righini blend an highly innovative stylistic touch with the overall Benetti’s timeless design and historycal “family feeling” and are distinguished by large and continuous glass surfaces that allow the owner and guests to enjoy breathtaking views of the sea from any angle. Wide, vertical windows guarantee “form and function” even in the wheel-house allowing a 180° degree’s visibility. For this reason and for the particularly compact dimensions, it is a true pleasure to cruise with Benetti’s Delfino even for its owner.

The American owners of Delfino m/y Ocean Drive – hull number three (BD03) out of 8 unit sold around the world since her debut at 2010 Cannes Boat Show – interpreted Carlo Galeazzi’s interior lay-out at his best fully customizing this unit as a pure expression of Italian design and style reflecting their very personal sensitivity.

Iconic brands like: Minotti, B&B, Flos, Armani Home, Missoni, Alcantara, Rubelli among the others are represented at their best into this unique, charming, “small” (mega)yacht.

Interiors has been designed with a perfect balance of white, warm and natural oak wood combined with light grey “frames” and white leather. Every component is fitted in order to create a natural harmony in each ambience. “Striato elegante” marble, chrome steel details and sting-ray (fish) leather complete this design “experience” creating an expanded, spatial

feeling, which is bright and relaxing. Even the light – multi/white led system – is contributing to create 12 different atmospheres according to moments of life on board such as dining, guests on board or simply relaxing.

Finally, Delfino 93’ has several outdoor areas that allow 10 guests to live on board in the maximum comfort and privacy, from the sunbathing area in front of the deckhouse to the huge fly-bridge and the shaded area thanks to an electric canopy in the dining area of the Sun deck.

Once on board the Delfino, nothing on board reflects its length; everything is wide, functional and perfectly balanced. Its secret lies in the shipyards’ name: it is not a small yacht but the smallest mega-yacht of the Benetti Class Range.
